A family house of coloured gemstones

Color Jewels is a family house of coloured gemstones and fine jewelry, established in 1981. We buy the rough, cut and polish the stones ourselves, and set them in gold, platinum and silver. What you see on this shop is that work: the Hong Kong collection, piece by piece, with the metal, the stones and the price on the page.

The family

O.P. Dangayach founded the house. With his sons Ashish, Yatish and Tarun, he spent more than thirty years taking it from a family business to offices and workshops in Hong Kong, Jaipur, New York and Dubai. It is a second-generation company. The knowledge of the stones is still in the family, and Ashish Dangayach is managing director.

More than six hundred people work with the house, on every continent. Hong Kong has been one of its homes for many years. Ashish leads from here, and this shop is the collection we keep in Hong Kong.

From the rough

Most jewelry houses buy a finished stone and set it. Color Jewels is one of the few that also produce, cut and polish gemstones at scale. Rough is sourced where it is mined, then cut and polished in our lapidary in Jaipur. The jewelry is made in our own workshops, including the factory in Panyu, and set in platinum, gold or silver.

The range follows from that. A calibrated coloured stone and a single important gem are made in the same house. Diamonds and natural coloured diamonds sit beside ruby, sapphire and emerald, and beside the stones clients ask for when they want something rarer: Paraiba tourmaline, Mahenge and cobalt spinel, tsavorite, morganite. Through 2025 the strongest demand we saw, in Asia and in the United States, was for fine ruby, blue sapphire and high-quality emerald, with Paraiba and spinel close behind. Larger centre stones, and pieces that are one of a kind, are what buyers ask for now.

They also ask where a stone comes from, and whether it has been treated. We keep that record inside the house, and we are making it faster to share. On this shop, when a piece carries a laboratory certificate, the laboratory and the number are named on the piece.

Tanzanite

Tanzanite is still found in one place: the Merelani Hills of Tanzania, near Kilimanjaro. The colour moves between blue and violet as the light changes, which is why a fine stone does not look like a sapphire and does not look like an iolite.

Color Jewels is a sightholder of TanzaniteOne, and has supplied tanzanite and tanzanite jewelry for many years. Dyach is our tanzanite jewelry, a trademark of Color Jewels. A Dyach piece is natural, untreated tanzanite, set by hand in gold. On this shop, tanzanite is one of the largest parts of the collection: rings, earrings, pendants and more, from a small accent to a centre stone of several carats.

This collection

Every piece listed here is from our own stock. The page tells you the metal, each stone and its weight, and the price in US dollars. When we have set a promotional price, that is the price beside the catalog price, with the catalog price struck through. You can narrow a collection by metal, metal colour and stone, or search for a reference if someone has already sent you the number.

The same work is what we take to the fairs: Hong Kong, Basel, Las Vegas, Tucson, Dubai, Bangkok and New York.

A record

The house was established in 1981.

The trade has marked the work in public. Color Jewels received a JNA Award in 2020. In India, the house was recognised for the best performance in coloured gemstones in Rajasthan in 2013–14, and as the second-highest exporter of coloured gemstones from India in 2012–13, 2013–14 and 2014–15.

If you are choosing a piece, begin with the collection. A question about a stone, a size or an order comes to us in Hong Kong.
